A little over a month ago, my head started to hurt. A sharp stabbing pain, on the bone on the top of my eye socket, and the top of my eye itself. I tried to ignore it, but it got worse and started to spread. After nearly 2 weeks, I went to see my doctor. Well, one of the doctors at that office, not the one technically listed as my doctor. Anyway, he couldn’t find anything wrong, but made a note of how odd it was considering that I almost never get headaches from anything.
Then it started to affect my concentration. I had trouble thinking straight, and focusing on things, and the pain was spreading and getting worse. I was starting to get fatigued. I went back a week after the prior appointment, had the same doctor, who again told me he didn’t see anything wrong but to come back if it got worse or stuck around another week or so. That was the Thursday before Christmas.
I finally saw my doctor Wednesday of this past week, because it had been getting worse and didn’t appear to be going anywhere and my vision was starting to blur on occasion. She was very concerned, but told me that she didn’t see what could be causing it and wasn’t noticing any neurological issues that would warrant deeper testing, so she referred me to a neurologist instead to get a more focused opinion. After having a run around with them about getting my paperwork straightened out, they set me up with an appointment for the first day they have available - February 1.
Last night, at work, my vision went blurry again and my headache escalated and I found myself light-headed and dizzy for over 3 hours until I made arrangements with some coworkers and left early. My speech slurred slightly for a short time when I got home, but seemed to go back to normal. My coordination has been off and has caused trouble for typing. Carol took me to the hospital, where they ran a CAT scan. They said they didn’t find anything wrong with my brain, but told me not to cancel my appointment with the neurologist. They said my sinuses had some inflammation, and prescribed me some antibiotics that I was told by a pharmacist friend today is the second-strongest stuff on the market, as well as oxycodone, and told to follow up with my doctor this week.
I’m still having trouble thinking straight, remembering random things, having some coordination issues, and have been incredibly tired ever since. I would greatly appreciate your prayers. I’ll let you know what’s going on as I learn more.
