Fox News recently confused Iraq with Egypt in an on-air map. As many readers of Negev Rock City are aware, Fox News is an American cable television news station. The United States, as many readers are also aware, currently maintains an extensive military presence in Iraq. (Via)

So … how does this even happen?

Lack of geography lessons in school?

Can you imagine this - “Hey guys, we’re invading Egypt ‘coz we don’t like the government, say, doesn’t his place look kinda familiar?”

In my high school geography class, my teacher was running through the countries of the middle east and having us label them on a blank map he’d handed out. “Iraq, Jordan, Israel, Syria, Lebanon, Bum Fucked Egypt…” I raised my hand and interrupted him. “What?”

“…do you want us to write that?”

“Yes, it’s the name of the country. Bum fucked Egypt. Moving on…”

At least he was actually pointing to Egypt, I suppose that’s something…
